WEAVERHAM TRUST AFTERNOON TEA EXTRAVAGANZA!!
The Weaverham Trust held an afternoon tea party on Saturday 26th May in aid of St Luke’s Hospice.
The event was sponsored by the pre sale of tickets and donations from wellwishers, and many extra attendees dropped in on the day. In all, over a hundred people enjoyed the usual fare of sandwiches, cakes, scones, cream, jam, strawberries and macaroons, and of course plenty of tea. There was a raffle with prizes donated by friends of the Weaverham Trust.
Glen Gidley, Weaverham Trust Chairman, thanked the attendees for supporting St Lukes Hospice, who many have to thank for care of their loved ones, and this was especially poignant as one of the Trust’s executive members has recently been through a traumatic episode with cancer. A representative from St Luke’s attended the event and the stall of St Luke’s merchandise proved popular.
Over £600 was raised for St Luke’s by the event.
The Lighthouse (formerly Church House) provided an excellent venue for the occasion with the newly refurbished room providing an airy and colourful venue, and the well equipped kitchen gave ample space for preparation of the food.
Following the positive feedback from this event, the Weaverham Trust hopes to organise future similar events.
